All rights reserved. in order to kick-start an international mission to force Kim to abandon nuclear arms. Chang goes way too far, however, in asserting that America needs to choose between keeping its nuclear arsenal and keeping New York. The current administration, however, is doing exactly the opposite by attempting to win approval for a new generation of tactical "mini nukes." It's a strategy that has both eroded international sympathy and exposed the great hypocrisy behind America's nuclear nonproliferation initiatives. Arguing against both Robert Kagan's idea of quasi-perpetual American global domination and Francis Fukuyama's famous "end of history" thesis, Chang points out that both America's pre-eminence and the universal appeal of democratic principles are increasingly questionable propositions. . If he ultimately prevails–and time is running out for Washington–his success will probably result in a quick erosion of American power. In fact, many countries, including America, reward him for his fundamental challenge to the international system. More important, North Korea threatens us.

The Vanderbilts (who built the Biltmore) differed from many other wealthy people in that they cared for their servants and treated them as people. The book contains a much better guide to purchasing and includes many valuable buying tips than I had realized when I wrote that initial review. Everything she wrote is presented as-is, with no changes made by the editor (spelling errors and all!).Because of this, the reader gets an authentic sense of life in Canada (seen through the eyes of a "Yankee", no less) during the 19th century. I enjoyed the characterization of his parents as academics who accrued wealth through TIAA-CREF.. Indeed, by pointing out the problem in unpretentious terms, the author is arguing that reform of language policy is the key to breaking the relationships which lie at the heart of the problem. This is far superior to Pennycook's work, which focuses on the responsibility of the western teacher (who is expected to shoulder the white man's burden by being self-critical, while ignoring the malpractice
