At some point in her teenage years, a lie crept in; she had to lose weight to establish her identity and value. The book uses Ada as a biographical example of the ever-more-intense clash between Reason (science, industry, etc) and Romance (poetry, religion, arts, etc). He’s just more interested in his horseracing enterprise than his responsibilities in governance. The way I organize my recipes on my computer is in two columns, name at the top, ingredients in column on the left, a picture on the top right side and the instructions under it. Shelter is classy and interesting and writes romance in a way that is romantic, hopeful, and aspirational. The unfortunate effect is to render her a less-than-sympathetic character. The debates surrounding progress of science versus keeping the tranquility of nature undisturbed are well represented in this narrative. The story covers a lot of the scandals of incest associated with Byron and his separation from his wife - this separation dominated Ada's life and had far-reaching effects on her children as well. The ASP is technical in nature, black and white, very straight forward. But, it does not follow that because the self is a concept that easily adapts to technology (that is becoming constantly smaller, more invisible, and human friendly) that this means literally that we now have 'cyborg' natures: that we are not still biologal selves with ever-increasing relationships with technology.
